Corporate Recovery and Insolvency Jobs

In thriving economies more companies are formed, which means more competition and vulnerability for existing companies who will look for professional advice on profit improvement and working capital review. So whatever the economic circumstances there is always room for corporate recovery jobs and the demand for qualified professionals is usually high.

Corporate Recovery and Insolvency services are provided by large firms, mostly general accounting practices and independent specialist boutiques with deploy the skills needed to focus on their clients' businesses.

In a recovery situation you will be expected to Assess the viability of each part of the business, Determine how to generate cash as fast as possible, deflect immediate threats, and devise a strategy to drive up profits.

Qualifications

Skills in demand tend to be dependent on the state of the economy at any given time. Increasingly the growth in demand has been for those with specific business review skills in the form of IBRs, pre-lending or pre-insolvency reviews. This can lead to early-stage rescue work, often within a specialist team.

Most commonly, those who have started in Corporate Recovery or Insolvency jobs from graduate or school-leaver level will take the CPI route followed with ACCA or JIEB and are likely to be specializing in formal insolvency appointment work.

Skills expected will include some marketing expertise or commercial acumen, and sales experience that is vital in securing new business and raising the profile of clients. An analytical mind and diplomacy are also desired attributes.

You will gain insight into more than finance; you could find yourself managing Human Resources, IT, Customer relations or operations.
